AJ Styles Returns to Smackdown after 3 Month Hiatus
AJ Styles, the two-time WWE champion, suffered a legitimate knee injury on last week’s episode of SmackDown at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. On his return to the WWE after a three-month absence, AJ Styles was involved in a one-on-one match with Carmelo Hayes, when he had suffered an injury which was initially thought to be a part of the storyline, but according to the latest reports, his “mid foot ligament sprain” is legitimate.
Notably, it was LA Knight, who goaded Carmelo Hayes on facing AJ Styles by giving him a shot at his United States Championship if he can beat the Phenomenal One. During the high-octane one-on-one match, when AJ Styles went for the Ushigoroshi, Carmelo Hayes landed shoulder first on his left knee before the referee was forced to call off the match as the former WWE champion was favoring his left leg.
Is AJ Styles Dealing with an Injury?
Jackie Redmond, the WWE Reporter, took to her X account to confirm the AJ Styles injury and remarked, “Coming out of Smackdown last night, I can confirm that AJ Styles suffered a “mid foot ligament sprain” also known as a Lisfranc injury. AJ will have an MRI later this week to determine the severity of the injury.” In response to her post, AJ Styles wrote, “I believe everything happens for a reason. I’ll keep you updated.”
AJ Style aka Allen Neal Jones has been a part of WWE for more than eight years now, but since his career in the promotion started later than normal, he is currently 47 years of age. With the Phenomenal One well past his prime, it will be interesting to see how quickly he can make it back from yet another injury setback after being sidelined for three months earlier this year.
